2006 Conference: Notice to Speakers

UMI 2006 in Kiel is coming up fast, and we are looking forward to your oral or poster presentations. The following are a few details for your attention.

Press Coverage

An interest has been expressed by the major German press agency, DPA, to interview a few delegates of the UMI. Our only consideration is that interviews be held outside of the sessions and during breaks or at other times. If you have other concerns about the press being present, please let us know in advance.

PowerPoint Presentations

If you are using PowerPoint for your presentation, please bring your file(s) to the Welcoming Reception/Registration on Sunday evening. We would like to load them on to two computers -- one to use during the sessions and one to serve as a backup. We would like to capture all of these presentations on to one CD for possible circulation to those who are interested. We will either provide the copies before the end of the second day, or by shipment later on. Please inform us if you do not want your presentation distributed in this way, and we will not include it on the CD.

Poster Presentations

The size of the easels that will display your posters are 89cm wide and 123 cm high (approximately 35 x 48 inches). Therefore a size A0 format poster would work just fine.

Abstracts Online

We would like to develop the UMI website such that abstracts culminating from these Institutes can be made public. Please let us know if you do not want yours accessed through our website.

Submission Instructions

Email a WORD or text file containing the following information to the Conference Coordinator. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2006.The selection of presentations and notification of authors will be completed by May 15, 2006.

Title of Presentation.
Author(s) Name, Title, Affiliation, Mailing and Contact Information.
Abstract: Any length, not to exceed 10 pages, including figures and tables.
Biographical Sketch of Principal Author and Speaker: ½-page narrative of each.

Submit Abstract by email.
