2006 Conference: Field Tour

This Geological Field Tour is a 4-day (September 27, 7:30 AM to September 30, 4:00 PM) optional feature of the UMI that includes a visit to the Harz Mountains, which from the early Middle Ages were famous for its ore deposits. The Harz has extraordinary geologic versatility that link to hydrothermal and marine origins, making this destination an exciting “must see” for marine mining enthusiasts.

All openings for the Field Tour have been filled and are no longer available for registration.

Prof. Dr. Peter Halbach from Free University (Berlin) will lead the Tour as follows:

Image of the hotel, Der Achtermann.Hotel accommodations for all three nights have been arranged for at Der Achtermann, a 4-star hotel in a historical building located in the town of Goslar. Kindly remember that you will be sharing a room with another UMI participant.

The cost of 485 USD (approximately 380 EUR) per person covers surface transportation from and returning to Kiel, lodging (based on Double accommodations) for 3 nights in a very nice hotel (includes breakfast), a special dinner on the last evening, and admission fees.

Appropriate clothing and footwear in case of rain is encouraged. Guests are welcome to join the tour.
