- September 22 (Monday), 08:30h: Technical Session I
Pavilhão do Conhecimento (Pavilion of Knowledge, Viva Science; 5-minute walk from the hotel).
Concurrent with session is the Spouses-only Lisbon Full Day Tour PDF, 09:00h, followed by the UMI Banquet PDF at Estufa Fria (Lisbon Greenhouse) at Park Eduardo VII.
- Tuesday, September 23, 08:30: Technical Session II
Pavilhão do Conhecimento; Oceanàrio de Lisboa PDF (Lisbon’s Oceanarium) visit to the largest indoor aquarium in Europe (18:00, a 3-minute walk from Pavilhão do Conhecimento). The rest of the evening is free for participants to explore the city and dine at their leisure.

- Wednesday, September 24 (16:30h and 17:30h) through Friday, September 26: Geotechnical Field Tours
Participants must choose one of three tours offered: Groups 1 and 2 (maximum 60 persons) to south Portugal and Group 3 (maximum 30 persons) to central Portugal. Departures from Olissippo Oriente Hotel will start at 16:30 for Groups 1 and 2 and 17:30 for Group 3. All tours will be guided by UMI hosts and we will end together on Friday evening at Algarve-Albufeira (south Portugal). Participants may check into the Grande Real Santa Eulália Resort and Hotel Spa for the evening or longer (a separate reservation is needed and at additional cost), if staying for the UMI Strategic Planning (steering committees) Meeting.
- September 27 through 28 (Saturday and Sunday): 2nd UMI Strategic Planning Meeting.
Grande Real Santa Eulália Resort and Hotel Spa
This meeting is for steering committee (technical, environmental, and education) members formed in 2013, which will end in the afternoon on Sunday. (Note: there are frequent flights from Faro to many international destinations—and to Lisbon, of course). An additional night(s) at the Grande Real hotel requires a separate reservation and additional cost.
